Abstract

The globalization wave in the world has given a high impact to the education world in Malaysia. Managing changes in education requires continuity of leadership qualities and a strong and effective management to ensure an increase in the professionalism of teachers and school improvement in terms of academic achievement and personal development school. To that end, involvement and willingness of teachers as well as school principals are needed to deal with these changes. Therefore, a study was undertaken to identify the readiness of secondary school teachers to spread leadership practices. Dimensions of spread leadership practices being measured in: setting and sharing the vision, mission and goals of the school; school culture; shared responsibility and leadership practices. This is a survey study using questionnaire as the main instrument. A total of 515 daily secondary schools (DSS) teachers were involved in this study. Results showed that the readiness of DSS teachers on spread leadership practices is high. This means that teachers in secondary schools are ready to the spread leadership practices. This readiness helps principals in managing school more effectively and smoothly.
