Abstract

Employability skills is a skill that is preferred by employers of technical graduates to have for employment. Studies conducted on the technical graduates often find that graduates lack employability skills. The aim of the study is to identify the important aspects of employability skills as perceived by the employers. The sample of the study is 107 manufacturing employers from various industry sizes (small, medium and large). The findings indicated that thinking skills, problem solving skill, creative thinking and innovative, and reasoning skill is of utmost priority by the employer in the manufacturing industry. A framework showing the employability skills level of importance was developed from the study. In the framework, employability skills were categorized into three levels; very important, important and moderately important. The conclusion of the study can be used by education institutions to plan the inculcation of employability skills to their students.
