This study examines the use of different levels of oral questions as a formative assessment technique in a geography lesson. The technique, when properly implemented can help to improve student’s achievementin learning Geography. The Qualitative study was carried out on two geography teachers in a secondary school in Perak. Data was gathered through observations and interviews. The result shows that both teachers utilized different levels of oral questions in their teaching processes. The result also shows a pattern of using different level of questions at different stages of the lesson; the beginning, the middle and the end of the learning processes. Both teachers were aware of the importance of using low level oral questions to gain information on students understanding of the content and concept being presented. Medium and high level questions on the other hand are used primarily to gauge student’s understanding and mastery of geography skills. Thus both medium and high level questions were utilized after the teachers have explained the content and concept of the lesson.
