Abstract

Online assessment requires a thorough implementation to avoid inaccurate choice of assessment and low quality type of assessment. The purpose of this study is to identify the online assessment conducted by vocational college teachers in Johor Bahru based on the online assessment design framework developed by Robin Booth. There are four stages in designing assessments for online learning, which are planning, development, implementation and support, as well as evaluator reviews. The respondents of the study consisted of 173 vocational college teachers for all subjects or programs in the Johor Bahru. A set of questionnaire was developed based on the criteria in four stages of designing online assessment. The questionnaire was filled out by the teachers involved through Google Form that have been distributed. Based on the pilot study conducted, the Cronbach’s Alpha index overall was 0.930. While the Alpha Cronbach index for each level is 0.788 for the planning stage, 0.764 for the development stage, 0.772 for the implementation stage and 0.835 for the support and review stage. Data were analyzed using the ‘Statistical Package for Social Science’ (SPSS) to obtain the median, interquartile range (IQR), frequency and percentage. The findings of the study show that the online assessment developed by Johor Bahru vocational college teachers was conducted according to each stage of the framework used in this study with Median=4. Most teachers agree that they have developed an online assessment according to the online assessment design framework.
