Kesan Motivasi dan Strategi Pembelajaran Terhadap Pencapaian Akademik dalam Mata Pelajaran Sains

The writing is aimed to study the effects of motivation and learning strategies on academic achievement in science subjects. Motivation in value aspects consist of mastery goal, ego-approach goal, ego-avoidance goal and work avoidance goal. While learning strategies include cognitive strategies and metacognitive strategies.Academic achievement of students in this study is measured by final examination results of science. By using stratified random sampling based on gender, a total of 434 students from form 4 arts stream students enrolled in 10 rural schools in the district of Batu Pahat were chosen to answer the questionnaire. The results showed that motivation contributed insignificant direct effect on academic achievement with value of 7.6% (β = - 0.114, p <0.113); while learning strategies contributed a significant direct effect on academic achievement with value of 6.8% (β = 0.278, p <0.000). Motivation is also found contributed significant indirect effect with value of 43.84% on academic achievement through learning strategies of the total effect.
