Tourist motivational to travel is an important aspect in the study of travel literature. This study analyzes the push and pull factors of motivation based on a sample of 200 respondents from four regions, namely Southeast Asia, West Asia, Europe and America. These four regions have been selected due to a few reasons, i.e, i) Southeast Asian market is a leading provider of tourist arrivals, ii) West Asian markets showed a high increase in the arrivals as an impact of the September 11 incident, iii) The European and American market is to market of developed countries. Mean analysis have been usedd in this study to explain the importance of each factor that stimulate tourist motivation. Analysis of the gap (the difference between the mean) of all the push and pull variables were analyzed. Each factor is measured by the stimulus items that have a high degree of reliability. The findings indicate that the most important of push factor in this study is to experience something different. While safety and security are the most important variables for the pull motivation factor. However, the empirical results of the stimulus factor or tourist motivation are varies across regions. Therefore, the government should pay attention to the well-being and safety and other factors and make the findings of this study as a guide in formulating policies related to tourism. This work can serve as a guide to policy makers in knowing the factors that stimulate tourist arrivals to Malaysia and improve all the weaknesses of fasilities and attraction that required by the tourists.Downloads
