This study aims to determine the level, the relationship, the dominant phase of learning and competence trainee doctors during housemanship. Accordingly, the main focus of this study is based on the theory of Kolb (1984). Respondents for this study is comprised of second year trainee doctors who are undergoing housemanship at a hospital in Johor Bahru area. Data were collected using a survey questionnaire. The collected data was then analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, frequency, percentage) and inferential statistics (pearson correlation and multiple regression). Findings indicated that each phase of the learning is high but experience phase (medium). Meanwhile, the level of competency of trainee doctors are modest. Analysis of the correlation test showed all phases of learning has a positive relationship with competence. Meanwhile multiple regression test showed conceptual phase has the highest β value. This shows that the phase of high contribution of competency during housemanship and trainee doctors be most dominant phase of competency during housemanship.
