Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenalpasti hubungan antara gaya kepimpinan pengetua dengan motivasi guru sekolah menengah kebangsaan (SMK) harian di daerah Kluang, Johor. Responden kajian terdiri daripada seramai 181 orang guru. Gaya kepimpinan pengetua telah diukur menggunakan instrumen The Leadership Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ). Manakala, motivasi guru diukur menggunakan instrumen A Questionnaire Measure of Individual Differences in Achieving Tendecy (QMAT). Dapatan kajian rintis telah menunjukkan bahawa nilai alpha Cronbach bagi gaya kepimpinan adalah antara .80 hingga .90 dan .83 bagi motivasi. Analisis statistik deskriptif iaitu kekerapan dan peratusan serta statistik inferensi dalam bentuk pekali Korelasi Pearson telah digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis kajian pada aras signifikan .05. Dapatan kajian ini telah menunjukkan bahawa gaya kepimpinan pengetua yang paling dominan berdasarkan persepsi guru di SMK harian, Kluang, Johor adalah gaya kepimpinan berbentuk sokongan, manakala motivasi guru berada pada tahap sederhana. Keputusan kajian juga telah menunjukkan bahawa terdapat hubungan signifikan antara gaya kepimpinan pengetua berdasarkan persepsi guru dengan motivasi guru (r = 0.38, p< .05). Setiap dimensi gaya kepimpinan (mengarah, berorientasikan kejayaan, penyertaan dan sokongan) juga didapati mempunyai hubungan signifikan dengan motivasi guru
