Abstract

A teacher who wanted to improve the effectiveness of teaching and learning in the classroom should master the quality and realization of all the skills, knowledge and expertise that exists in him/herself. This study was conducted to examine the use of teaching aids in the 6th semester student teachers for the topic woodwork , pipes and metal in Living Skills subject. The instrument of the study is qualitative methods which carried out via observation and video recording using note field. The sample of this study involved 10 groups of teacher trainees in which each group represents 5-6 people. Data obtained through video recording will be used to evaluate the use of ABM and its effectiveness in the process of teaching and learning. The findings showed that the use of traditional teaching aids such as whiteboards and "mahjong"paper have been adopted by the trainees for the use of teaching process in classroom. At the same time, the study also found that many teachers still use printed materials such as worksheets during the assessment process. On the other hand, it is also found that the use of technological driven teaching aids as audio visual electronics, computers and software were given special attention in the classroom activities. This has made the teaching and learning process more interesting for the students whereby the teaching process of Life Skills has enhanced through the practical work involving video and audio -visual elements.
