This article aims to measure the level of workers quality in the private higher education service sector in Malaysia for the year of 2010. The sector is targeted to contribute up to RM1.3 billion per year in the economic transformation programme from year of 2010 until 2020 through its private sector liberalisation policy. It is suspected that the workers quality play an important role in the private higher education service sector. Thus, this article computes the effective workers based on job categories using share of wages proposed by Fallon (1987). Apart from this, the analyses of the level of workers quality are done based on educational achievement and job categories for the profiling of the sector. The article uses the cross section data of the 126 private higher education institutions (PHEIs) based on the latest Economic Census of year 2011 Malaysia-Education Services for the information in the year of 2010. The effective workers are further analysed using cross tabulation and chi-square test with the size of operational of PHEIs and their capital intensity. Overall, more PHEIs of larger than smaller size are operating at higher level of workers quality.
