The objective of this article was to discuss the roles of higher education institutions towards a knowledge-based Nigerian economy in the fast changing globalised economy. In achieving this objective, issues that drive knowledge in developed countries and the need for Nigeria to adopt a knowledge-based approach to economic development were examined. Suggestions on strategies for developing a knowledge-driven economy were offered accordingly.Downloads
